She Rolls!

Friday morning Lizzie's listing to starboard continued all the way to turtle the Turtle. She spent a few minutes in shock lying on her belly, then started to fuss. She's still peevish during tummy time, so she'd better learn to right herself front to back asap! Since the first roll, Lizzy has been obsessed with toppling back to front, doing it again and again and again. She's also come quite close to moving from front to back (she made it to her side, could easily have gone the rest of the way, but seemed to run out of gas...) We're looking for a barrell roll any day.

Also in the gross motor department, Lizzie has started sitting in her bumbo chair. She has the neck strength to hold herself quite well, and seems to enjoy the perspective on the world. We leave her in it for just a few minutes at a time -- enough for a short book or song -- then get her back onto the floor for more tummy time or kicking. Circuit training, baby style.

It seems the growth spurt that hit early last week has run it's course. After the constant hunger and feeding, it's a reief to have her napping well and chilling out during meals. She's back to her usual self, with the occasional grand yak:

Nights are getting easier too. Lizzie made it from 7pm to 6am today, had some milk, then went right back to sleep until 9:30. Not bad!

Eric and I are taking a mini vacation during this spring break week to catch up on work (yeah, I know, that's not usually how one defines vacation, but it's nice to work in relaxed mode), rest, and hang out with the peanut together. We're very sad to have cancelled our trip to NH, but this respite is much needed. And its a good thing we didn't get stuck in this snowstorm, too!
