The past week brought two new accomplishments for the Lizzie Kat. First, she rolled front to back for her first time last Wednesday (3/26), and has repeated the feat many times since. She has a peculiar method: lying on her belly, she tucks her legs all the way under her body (basically into child's pose for the yogis and yoginis out there), then turns her head in one direction, flails an arm, and topples to her side. From there it's easy to flip onto her back, at which point she'll usually offer a big drooly grin of accomplishment. There are clearly other, easier, ways to get the job done, but she hasn't found 'em yet.
On Saturday Lizzie started sporting a pincer grasp in earnest. She now often reaches for offered toys with index finger and thumb, and has even managed to clamp onto a few things (mostly mom's ear, neck, chest, etc.) with this new technique. She clearly doesn't understand that it's not going to work for everything (most toys are too big for the pincer to work), but it's a new trick so naturally she needs a while to figure it all out.
Yesterday I decided (a bit belatedly) to do Lizzie's 4 month photo shoot. She had a great time reminding me that she's not an immobile little baby any more... Great fun.

As usual, you can find these pictures and more on Picassa. In the meantime, happy trails all! The dogwoods are just starting to bloom here, and we're considering our second walk of the day.
Lizzie looks like she has a math notebook, ready in case she figures out a proof and has to get it down in writing. O'Auntie Lou
