Ups and Downs

Big news on several fronts this week:

First, Lizzie had her first incontrovertable sleep through the night. She went to bed Monday night around 6pm and slept through to 7am Tuesday. Magic! Strangely, she's also had a few massive nap days. On Monday and Tuesday of this week she slept 18 and 18.5 hours, respectively. We're confused but not about to knock it. We just hope she isn't getting sick. (My theory -- she's exhausted from other developments, see below.) Not to let us get too excited, she had me up at 3am again last night. (Seems fair -- it was only her fifth feeding of the day, so I was relieved to give it to her!)

We've also reached another developmental milestone: turning from back to side. Lizzie's first half-roll was on Sunday (I think -- she's been listing to starbord all week) and by Monday she was flopping over regularly. She's very proud by the look of it, and seems to enjoy the new perspective on her toys. Still no progress on tummy rolls, but we're hoping sometime soon...

She's also gotten very good at grabbing objects and putting them into her mouth. We need to be much more careful about what's left around. Thought we had a little more time...

Finally, we had our first official night out with a non-familial sitter. (Thanks, mom, for the first two excursions!) Our friends Kim and Matt (with baby Anastasia) entertained the peanut while we went to Bob and Jill Rockwell's wedding (lovely!). Elizabeth had a few moments, but was from all reports, a good little girl. We're so proud!

Eric and I are still working to find an even keel as we work through the semester and take care of Elizabeth. It's a challenge, to be sure. Gives `labor of love' a whole new meaning.
