Evidence

And now a little evidence of the Lizzie-Anastasia duo in action. They're very cute -- they've even starting talking to each other (sort of).

And here we have the girls working together to implement a bad idea... the new game in their words: "slide stairs... wheee" Greeeeaaat.

Lizzie is in for a huge treat today, when Anastasia will join Lizzie's class at school! Lucky girl! The big question is whether "Ee-ee-da" replaces Lizzie's current best friends, "Ee-i!" and "Ah-ver" (Eli and Oliver).

In other news, Lizzie loves her new trike, from O'Mama and O'Pa. She still doesn't peddle much (I haven't seen her do it, but Eric claims he's seen her peddle on a downhill), but she is pretty good steering. Note to other parents: the push bar is fantastic!

Lizzie's other new obsession is "Oh-GA" (yoga). I found a "Yoga Kids" DVD, which she now wants to watch constantly. She does many of the poses upstairs and around the house.... but never when the DVD is actually on... Note the couch potato to the lower right of the photo below...

Language, etc. continues to flourish. Lizzie now regularly says sentences, and seems to like pointing out differences. For instance "Alice little girl, Yee-ee big girl." (I should note that daddy and mommy were both "little" (while Ginger and Abby have always joined Lizzie in the big category) until Eric had a little intervention on Saturday to explain that mommy and daddy are, in fact, big.) This morning, Lizzie pointed out that Santa is a big boy -- in her own words: "Tee-tte-taws big boy." There you have it.

Words update (2 years): It's official -- no more updates necessary. Lizzie uses full sentences, some articles, possessives and plurals, some tenses (usually past tense). She has an enormous vocabulary and labels everything (for instance, in Go Dog Go, she points out "rollerskates, jackhammer, shovel, pick axe, baseball, cannon, trampoline, etc.) -- if we name something more than once or twice, she remembers the word. (So yeah, we need to watch what we say!) Lizzie also understands spelling in a fwe cases. c-double-o-k-i-e is no longer safe to spell! (nor is p-a-r-k).

Signing update (2years): Lizzie now knows all of the signs in Volumes 1-12 of Baby signing time. M guess is that she has about 200 signs. She still signs quite often, but since we're the only ones who sign with her, I'm guessing it'll taper off in time with school, friends, etc. We still find signing very useful for non-verbal communication.
