Oh my, where did the time go?! We've been completely, utterly, out of our minds busy around here. All for good cause, though: the move to NH is ever closer -- 6 weeks and counting.
Poor Lizzie (and Alice) have suffered through frantic house cleaning and showings, rearranged (and deported) furniture, seemingly endless phone calls to realtors, lawyers, mortgage brokers, inspectors, assessors, and moving companies. We've also had a slew of visitors -- every member of the NH contingent visited in April -- which was great fun, but threw Lizzie for a loop everytime someone left. She's still pining away for her cousins. She is so very taken with Maddie and Olivia!
New stuff in Lizzie's world: her language is developing beautifully. She has a wonderful sense of style, and grammar is right as often as not. She still misses a little on the pronouns when she's not thinking about it, but she's getting the idea. Yesterday she said: "Mommy has _her_ shirt. Mommy's a girl. Lizzie has _her_ shirt. Lizzie's a girl. Daddy's a boy. He has _his_ shirt." Lizzie still usually refers to herself as "you," though. And I can't bear to correct ehr because it's so cute -- "Mamma carry-you?" How could I say no to that?
Lizzie is growing like a weed, and still eats very well. No pickiness here, though she can be a pain at the dinner table. She likes to get up, walk around, and graze. She often puts way (way) to much in her mouth at once, and ends up spitting it onto her plate because it's too much to chew. Her table manners must be why we didn't get an invitation to the royal wedding...
Behavior is touch and go. Some days are great, and you can tell she's trying really really hard to be good. Other days are not so hot... I guess it's all part of being 2?
At school, Lizzie seems to continue on as soemthing of an instigator and ring leader among the kids with a shorter attention span. Her teacher, Jane, recently asked if Lizzie might need her hearing checked because "it's like she doesn't hear me sometimes. I can ask her to sit down, and she doesn't register a thing..." Ummm.... Nope. She has excellent hearing. She's just really stubborn with a spectacular poker face.
Liz is cute as a button these days and more affectionate than ever. She'll just randomly run over for a hug and a kiss, "I missed you, Mama.' But she's fickle, too. That "I love you; that's MY mom!" Can turn in an instant to: "Mama, go away. Mommy go downstairs, get Daddy. I need Daddy!!" Harumph. But I think I get it. She'll often say things like "Mama is busy with Alice. Mommy and Alice go downstairs." Ahhh, jealousy. Starts young, doesn't it?
