Lizzie enjoyed her first real Thanksgiving this year. (Last year, of course, she was far to young for Turkey or stuffing.) We were joined by good friends and several babies -- there were 4 under four, and delightful Holiday chaos ensued. The food was pretty good, though all of the grown ups were busy enough chasing down the little ones not to notice much. (The wine, on the other hand, was excellent.)
Lizzie had lots of friends visit in the past two weeks -- Atticus (about 14 months), Pietro (3 and a half), Isabella (6 months), Matias (just over a year and a half), and Anastasia (13 months). Very exciting! Lizzie played nicely (no tackling) and definitely took an interest in the other kids. (Second only to her interest in other kids' snacks)
A few new developments to report: Lizzie's walking has become much smoother, though she still crawls as often as not. She has walking-days and crawling-days when she seems to favor one over the other, but the trend toward bipedism is clear. Lizzie also loves wearing her shoes now, and insists on having them put on her feet. Of course, she's also quite fond of taking them off, if only to ask for them to be put back on. Sigh...
Tantrums are getting worse, regrettably. They're longer and more frequent. It's hard not to laugh some times (or cry...) as she rolls onto her belly, pounds the floor, and kicks her legs simply because, say, she failed to get the block in the bucket, or her sock wouldn't quite come off when she tugged.... Sometimes -- I think as an energy saving measure -- she does all of this on mute, with virtually no sound. But when she turns on the audio, boys-howdy! She's not one of those delicate little whimpery babies. We have ourselves a regulah Pavarotti here.
So that's all the news from our little house of toddler-hood. It's snowing rather impressively at the moment, so with any luck we'll get Lizzie outside for her first snow-romp after her morning nap. And of course, we'll post the pictures as soon as we get some. (Which reminds me -- T-day and other photos are on Picasa -- enjoy! )
