Today was Lizzie's first day of home schooling: after two weeks as a daycare lame duck, Lizzie's back home with dad full time. We're in the process of finding babysitters/nannies to help, but at the moment Eric will have his hands full. To make matters even more exciting both Lizzie and I have colds (a rather nasty one in my case), so Eric gets to take care of us both. Wheeeee!
Elizabeth is getting to be very steady on her feet, and regularly goes hands-free for a minute or more at a time. She still hasn't taken a step as far as we know, but it's coming fast. It's simply a question of her deciding she doesn't want to crawl to get to wherever it is she's going. Right now it seems that it just hasn't occured to her yet.
She's also talking up a storm, yammer yammer yammer, though we're not sure what's she's saying. Dada and Mama are both popular, but theyre not used consistently. She also makes a variety of other word-ish phrases, but nothing quite qualifies as an undeniable first word. Her intonation is decidedly conversational. Cocoa bear seems to be her primary audience.
Oh, and the BIG news: teeth! 4 more of them in fact, lined up like ducks along her upper gum. They're just starting to push through, and we've had the fussies, but the Lizzie Kat's a trooper, and seems to be handling it pretty well. She's been waking at night, but with coughing fits mostly, and I don't think the teeth are bothering her too much. (Early last week was another matter, just before the first one pushed through.)
Our final firsts for the day: ice cream (which she loved, go figure), and later today: cake, candles, and presents for mom's birthday. I'm excited to share the celebration with her this afternoon. Watching her little face take in the birthday candles will be the best gift I could get. (Unless you're reading this, Eric, in which case think diamond tennis bracelet.) ;)
