Hello there. Lots to talk about this week.
Emily has already mentioned that Lizzie has been taken out of daycare. One whole week at home, and she is rested, alert, and energetic (still sniffly, but getting better).
So, what's she been doing?
She seems to remember that certain toys live in certain places, and she goes to look for them specifically. Additionally, she will try to put the toy back in its place.
She seems to understand tools -- that certain objects have purposes other than just being. She has started placing her finger foods on her spoon, and then trying to eat them this way. Rarely does the food end up in her mouth, but she's trying. She has also started banging blocks on the xylophone toy, presumably to make noise. I think this is all evidence that she understands quantum physics.
She also understands that socks go on feet. She frequently pulls her own socks off, but when she finds them later, she will place them on her feet. I brought my socks into her room to finish dressing there, and she took my socks and placed them on my feet.
She continues to share, but has a new game. She picks up a book and gives it to me (or Emily), and then gestures for you to pick her up. Then you read her the book while she giggles. Repeat.
Finally, she is really getting the hang of a new game. It goes like this: crawl over to the diaper can, reach into the dirty diaper chute, pull hand out of chute and look at Dad when he says "no Lizzie, we don't play with dirty diapers," then sit down and begin crying.
Not bad for a single week? Maybe she was doing this at daycare (and we didn't notice), but it is great to see her new tricks in person.
Cheers.
