Sick again! But almost better...

Lizzie was home sick again this week -- she came down with a bug late Wednesday night and spent Thursday and Friday recuperating with daddy. Very mild fever, croupy cough, and a runny nose -- but the little trooper was generally in good spirits and is much better already.

We continue to struggle with the question of whether to keep her in daycare --the per hour cost is ridiculous with her home sick so much, and naps and bottles remain a problem (she won't stand for either one at school -- too much to do). Last night we learned that one of her little classmates pulled out last week after his second cold since starting at the beginning of September. At least we're not the only ones having second thoughts!

In other news, Lizzie is now cruising with ease (though she still prefers to crawl much of the time) and can stand for 15-30 seconds without support. She loves to bounce and stomp standing in her crib, showing every sign of being ready to walk. Her parents on the other hand... She's reaching for most everything. Tippy toes make her dangerous; she turned the soup from simmering to boiling on Friday! Enough of a shock that Eric called me at work to report her new trick.

We're starting to hear what may be words. I'm convinced her ka-ka sound is for cat (she uses it reliably when she sees a kitty, but she also uses it other times), and she seems to be using both dada and mama in the appropriate context, but also when she's clearly not talking to us. Maybe she's just thinking about me when she wanders around the house babbling mama mama, but I think that's probably wishful thinking. :) We also hear a very convincing hi (Which sometimes comes with a wave) and yay (with clapping). Still, I don't think we're quite ready to make any of these official.

Lastly, an update on food. Banana is out, Kiwi is so very in. (Though her last diaper suggested she probably shouldn't have more than one a day...) Cheese is also at the top of the list. She tries many of the foods we eat. Yesterday for instance, she tried pea soup, pumpkin muffin, hummus, collard greens, jerk chicken, cucumber, and raw spinach. Good stuff! Sometimes the faces are priceless, but she generally enjoys everything. If only we were so lucky to have this continue!

Sounds like Lizzie is waking -- time to get going!
